SUNDAY After a morning swim and breakfast, soak up some rays on the white sandy beaches before deciding the day’s activities. For all anglers, the island is a mecca for fishing. Three types of fishing occur in this area: Deep Sea, Reef, or Flats Backcountry fishing. For deep-sea fishing, it is common to catch sailfish, dolphin, wahoo, grouper, yellowtail, barracuda, and sharks. Backcountry fishing is something different entirely. It's entirely sight fishing - you literally hunt the fish, silently polling across the beautiful, expansive flats. Tarpon, often called ‘Silver Kings’ are prehistoric fish that provide impressive aerial displays once hooked. The other main fish, the Bonefish is one of the most exciting to catch. Within seconds they can spool 100 yards of line so hold on! If fishing is not your thing, try any of the resort’s unlimited use of water sports equipment from kayaks to sailing gear. For the dive enthusiast, take an afternoon dive to the famous wreck of the Aldolphus Busch for something truly remarkable.
