Itinerary
SATURDAY Depart your hometown for your flight to Honduras. Upon arriving in San Pedro Sula, you will be greeted from your flight and taken on a tranquil scenic drive to the pretty highland town of Copan Ruinas. The remainder of day will be spent relaxing and exploring the colonial style town topped off with a romantic dinner in the evening back at the Hacienda.
SUNDAY After breakfast, you will be met by your guide, ‘Carlos’ to begin a full day excursion to "Finca El Cisne". Carlos' family owns the farm and he will take you on a tranquil horseback ride through the farmlands and lush scenery of the Copan Valley followed by a hearty farmhouse lunch prepared by Carlos' mother, where you can taste the coffee grown here. In the afternoon, explore the coffee and cardamon plantations and learn about cattle ranching.The evening ends with a tantalizing dip in the natural hot springs before heading back to the hotel.
MONDAY After breakfast and fresh morning coffee, you are taken on a guided tour to the pristine archaeology site of Copan, (famous for its intricately carved stelea and hieroglyphic stairway, as well as the museum). After exploring the site, you will return to the Bird Park for lunch and a leisurely stroll through the lush, shady river valley. Your guide will introduce you to a variety of beautiful tropical birds that have been rescued from locales all over Honduras. The evening will be spent sipping sunset cocktails and enjoying an intimate dinner for two.
TUESDAY After a late sleep-in and breakfast, you and yours will be transferred back to San Pedro Sula for a quick 20 minute charter flight to La Ceiba, where you will be met from your flight and transferred to the lodge inside Pico Bonito Park. Remainder of the day spent exploring the lodge’s extensive tropical wilderness, swimming by the waterfall, entering the butterfly farm or taking bird watching hikes to jungle outposts set up by the lodge.
WEDNESDAY During breakfast you will be given a choice of how you would like to spend your day. Either taking a kayak and paddling through the mangroves to see flocks of birds, bats and howler monkeys, to have an exhilarating white water rafting adventure OR take a photographer’s dream tour of the Cuero y Salado Nature Park by boat.
THURSDAY Enjoy an early morning hike after breakfast in Pico Bonito National Park before transferring to La Ceiba for a quick charter flight to the island of Roatan, where hotel staff will greet you and escort you to the hotel. In the evening, stroll the velvety sand beaches and watch the sun set over the turquoise ocean as you unwind on the deck of your spacious villa surrounded by tropical flowers. Look out for hummingbirds, giant butterflies, iguanas and parrots.
FRIDAY and SATURDAY Enjoy days of bliss on Roatan to sunbathe, soaking in some of the warmest golden rays the sun has to offer, snorkel the crystal clear waters on the world’s second largest coral reef system alongside countless fish and wildlife including angelfish, parrotfish, giant eagle rays, and even barracuda. Scuba dive any of the 90 odd dive sites available around the island (there are several massive shipwrecks and deep dive wonder-world sites for the braver at heart!). Swimming with dolphins is a must-do. Or perhaps rent a moped and cruise the island exploring the wildlife by land to witness the spectacular views. Enjoy dinner and local entertainment at the hotel or travel into the infamous West End and cap off the night with traditional Honduran cocktails.
SUNDAY Mid morning, you will be escorted back to the airport for your flight back home, completing the trip and leaving you to ponder whether it was all just a dream.
